Save the Date: Opening Ceremony on May 11, 2025
The Eurovision Show Week will kick off with the Opening Ceremony, which will take place on Sunday, May 11, 2025, in the heart of Basel: From 2 p.m., President of the Government Conradin Cramer and representatives of the SRG and EBU will welcome the participating nations to the market square.
Afterwards, the delegations will parade across the Mittlere Brücke to the Eurovision Village in vintage streetcars and buses as part of a party parade - on the longest turquoise carpet ever seen in ESC history! The 1.3-kilometre-long “Turquoise Carpet” guides the colorful procession into the MQ - accompanied by dance groups, school classes, alphorn players, techno acts and musicians from the Basel Carnival, among others.
Once they arrive at the MesseQuartier, the audience can look forward to a stage program with short interviews with the delegations. When they take their leave for the subsequent opening party, Luca Hänni and various DJs will ensure an exuberant festival atmosphere until midnight.
